Thank you 2017. Bring it on 2018!

12 Dec 2017, in Corporate

What a year! What a year! As 2017 is ending we are now a crew of 12, 10 of which started in 2017. We closed a 7 digit seed investment round and opened offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Berlin.

The first half of the year our main focus was on data. We indexed 6.000 game streaming channels, 33.000 games and more than 9 million game play videos. We built an entirely new platform for game streaming analytics - PlayStats.com. As we analyzed the data, we decided they were too valuable to share. PlayStats.com never went live to the public, but now is the backbone of everything we are doing.

On the product side we developed a new performance marketing model for PC games, and launched 4 market tests. 3 of those tests failed. The 4th - successful - test however has shown us the road to a new market. In parallel we migrated our PlayClips back-end platform, and reengineered its front-end components. Additionally we built tech to automatically match games and influencers, by combining more than 10 data sources and close to a 100 million data points.

And we travelled. We travelled a lot. In less than 10 months we attended 12 trade shows in 3 continents. We went to LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Helsinki, Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, London, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Barcelona, Moscow, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hong Kong to have face-to-face meetings with more than 150 game studios. We closed our first big market deals which are currently under development and will be launched in Q1 2018.

Today our founding team is together in Barcelona to celebrate Christmas, to look back on 2017 and to look forward to 2018, with the important inspiration of some good Spanish wines (and spirits). In 2017 we have built the team, we have built the tech, we have built the data and we have built the clients. The year to come will be the year of building the market. Thank you very much 2017. Bring it on 2018. We are ready!

The PlayCom team wishes you all a merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year!
